Chatham Register of Deeds & County Manager’s Office Closed Oct. 24-25
PITTSBORO – On Oct. 24 and 25, the Chatham County Register of Deeds Office and the County Manager’s Office will be closed to the public due to renovations of the County Annex Building. On these dates both offices are moving into different sections of the Annex Building.
The Register of Deeds Office handles such things as property deeds, marriage licenses, birth and death certificates and the filing of important documents.
“We know these are very important to residents and businesses, so please know that you can’t obtain these services on Oct. 24-25 during the move,” said Register of Deeds Treva Seagroves.
The County Manager’s Office also will be closed on Oct. 24-25, but staff will be available for critical issues by phone at 919-542-8258 or 919-549-4662.
On Oct. 28, the Register of Deeds Office will reopen on the first floor east wing of the Annex Building where the Clerk of Court used to be. The County Manager’s Office will reopen that day on the second floor of the east wing of the Annex Building, where District Court used to be.
“This is the first phase of moves required as part of the renovations,†said County Manager Charlie Horne. “We will have several others along the way, including the Tax Office, Finance Office and our Information Systems
Technology Office.”
The entire project should be completed in the late spring of 2014. “Most of the affected offices have been out of space for years and moving into larger, more efficiently organized space will be a huge relief,” Horne said.
