Subject: Introduction to Buddhist Meditation
Introduction to Buddhist Meditation. Beginning the first Monday evening of every month (this coming month that would be Aug. 5th), 7:30 -9:00pm, continuing each Monday evening for four weeks, at the North Carolina Zen Center, 390 Ironwood Rd. (off Russell Chapel Rd), Pittsboro.
The cost for the series of four classes: $25.00.
Designed for people who want to begin or strengthen a meditation practice, the class includes basic meditation instruction as well as instruction in other aspects of Buddhist practice.
The general form of the course will be: participants will commit to practicing at home during the week, beginning with a short (five-ten minutes) period each day and gradually increasing this each week. At each meeting there will be plenty of time for questions and the sharing of our own experiences with our practice. In this way we support each other in establishing our own practice.
This practice in now way conflicts with any spiritual practice or belief system, and can in fact enhance other paths.
Participants who complete this introductory course are welcome and encouraged to continue coming to the ongoing Monday evening sessions ($5.00 per session on a drop-in basis).
The instructor: Ken Simon has 33 years as a Buddhist practitioner. In 2010 he moved to Chatham County from Ohio, where he developed this course and practiced for many years at the Yellow Springs Dharma Center.
