Subject: This Week @ The City Tap
Good morning Chatlisters! We got another big weekend ahead at the The City Tap, so come on out and enjoy some great live music!
*Wednesday @ 8:30 PM – Open Mic*
Open mic Wednesdays are a fun night and great way to get out and hear some of the awesome local talent here in PBO, as well as enjoy $1 off all drafts!
*Thursday @ 8:30 PM – The Cryptics*
The Cryptics are a garage rock influenced band specializing in unearthing
and reviving lost, forgotten and sometimes unknown rock and roll classics
from the 1960’s. Drawing material from rare, independently released 45
records, the band makes it’s City Tap debut this Thursday. The band members
include: Lori Baron (drums), Patrick Womack (guitar and vocals), Mary Mace
(keyboards), and Brad Womack (bass).
*Friday @ 8:30 PM – Joe Bell & The Stinging Blades*
Conceived in cigarette smoke and nurtured on cold beer, such is the genesis
of the Stinging Blades. A bar band down to the marrow, these fellows know
how to keep a joint rocking. Their rootsy mixture of Memphis Soul, New
Orleans R&B, Blues and Rock & Roll combines high quality cover tunes with
finely honed original songs, all of which are played with real feeling.
They don’t resort to the lowest common denominator but rather try to lift
the atmosphere to a musically higher plane while remaining anchored in the
carnal pelvic funk. This Band Jams! However, don’t think of them as a “jam
band”. There’s too much focus in their playing to fall into that category.
This is not to say they play with constraint. A certain looseness is always
there allowing for flashes of psychedelia that spin into musical ecstasy.
If it’s feeling, quality tunes and a healthy portion of Rock & Roll magic
you seek, let the Stinging Blades cut off a slice for you.

*Saturday @ 8:30 PM – Patrick Dyer Wolf with Small Lions*
Patrick Dyer Wolf is one of our favorite guests at the City Tap. He always
brings his own unique style to some rockin’ folk tunes. Patrick grew in
Jersey, but now resides in Chapel Hill where he brings a sound that may
remind you of Tom Waits and Ryan Adams. Patrick teams up Rachel Kiel
(vocals, banjo, guitar, flute) and Jeremy Smith (vocals, bass) of the Small
Lions this Saturday night. Gonna be a great night at the City Tap with
some awesome music, so come on out and see for yourself!
