Sunday, May 5th 2:00 to 3:30 PM: Walking the American Tobacco Trail (Free)
What happens when a railroad corridor is abandoned? A few of them are becoming rail-trails! Learn about efforts to preserve abandoned railroad corridors for alternative transportation such as bicycling, hiking, and horseback riding. Join us for an easy educational walk along the Chatham section of the American Tobacco Trail (ATT). Our guide will be Bill Bussey with the Triangle Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
Meet at the New Hope Church Road trail crossing. Map available at www.triangletrails.org/pdfs/ATT_map-6-10_3-4.pdf. Please note there are no restroom facilities on this section. Directions: This ATT trailhead is
located on New Hope Church Road between Mt. Pisgah Church Road on the west and Yates Store Road on the east. Google “New Hope Church Road and American Tobacco Trail” for directions from where you live.
