Chatham County Senior Games and Silver Arts Coming in April

PITTSBORO– North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. has announced that Chatham County Senior Games were sanctioned as a official qualifying site for State Finals for 2013.  Chatham County Senior Games will be held in various locations throughout the county April 16-26, 2013.

The Senior Games seeks to keep the body, mind, and spirit fit while also fostering enjoyment with friends, family, spectators, and volunteers. Seniors age 55 years and better are eligible to participate.

Sporting events will include: basketball shoot, bocce, bowling, cornhole, croquet, cycling, one-mile fun walk, golf, bowling, horseshoes, swimming, tennis, track and field events.

Silver arts cover four categories:

*         Heritage Arts: basket weaving, china painting, crocheting, rugs, jewelry, knitting, needlework, pottery, quilting, stained glass, tatting & needlelace, tole/decorative painting, weaving, woodcarving, woodturning and woodworking.

*         Literary Arts: essays, life experiences, poems and short stories

*         Performing Arts:  comedy/drama, dance, line dance, instrumental and vocal

*         Visual Arts: acrylics, drawing, mixed media, oils, pastels, photography, sculpture, and watercolor.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
