Hi Kim. I read your post about coyotes. I lived with them for nearly 10 years in remote Colorado and over time learned they are among the most misunderstood creatures on the planet. They rarely hunt anything larger than a rabbit. Yes, they will eat deer, livestock, etc.- if they are already deceased! I have heard many people say, “Coyotes killed my sheep” (or cows or various other creatures) but when I ask, no one actually saw this occur. In Colorado coyotes lived in the hills directly behind our horse barn. They never once threatened our horses or our dogs. In fact, they helped maintain the rodent population, as rats, mice, snakes, and even insects are among their favorite dishes. Coyotes are no more a threat to your horses than foxes.
In fact, coyotes are probably just what your farm needs. They will help control the vermin!

I hope this is helpful.
