Beautiful local pottery and delicious soup are going hand-in-hand to raise funds for the CORA food pantry in Pittsboro. You can help feed the hungry in Chatham County by visiting the Chatham Empty Bowls event on Friday May 4, 5:30 – 8PM at the Chatham County Council on Aging Senior Center on Highway 87 North in Pittsboro (beside the new County Library).
Attendees will be able to choose from the many beautiful handcrafted bowls on display contributed by local potters, and then choose healthy and delicious soup and bread also made locally. The meal also includes beverage and dessert. Soups and other food will be prepared by a number of local restaurants, grocers and bakeries. Seating will be available in the Senior Center dining room and on the patio outside. The center is located at 365 Highway 87 North, just north of the new Chatham County Library.
Tickets can be purchased at the door: $25.00 for a bowl, soup, bread, beverage and dessert with special discounts for students and children. All proceeds will go to CORA Food Pantry, which provides a week’s worth of food for individuals and families in crisis in Chatham County. In November, December and January CORA provided food for 500+ families each month – an increase of 31% over the previous year.
