On my commute from my Chatham county home and my Wake County job, I pass by a Super Target, a Lowes, a Food Lion, a Kroger, and a Fresh Market. Within 6 miles of home in different directions are ‘the Food Lion’, the Pig, Harris Teeter, Chatham Marketplace and another Lowes. Plenty of choices where to shop. I’d say that 80% of my grocery budget goes to Kroger, 15% to Food Lion, and 5% to the Pig. All have their issues.
I think the remodel at Food Lion brought lots of new merchandise, but arranged in what is to me an illogical floor plan. Making the matter worse is the new endcap signs that list what’s on each aisle.. Where, from any given vantage point you can only see 1/2 of the listed items. I’ve brought this to the attention of the manager, whose answer was to hand me a map of the store… A self-made treasure hunt. For me, Kroger in Apex is the best choice, in terms of selection, value and customer service.
Hopefully someone at Food Lion is listening, and will implement positive change. I know this chatlist’s feedback has helped the Subway in the same shopping plaza do an amazing turnaround in terms of cleanliness, food quality, and customer service. Hopefully FL can do the same, and when that happens, perhaps I will spend more of my grocery budget in Chatham County..
