Lordy  – I take a few days off from reading the chat list (yes, some of us have other things to do on occasion) and come back to find Food Lion compared to a combo goumet kitchen / night club.  How Hilarious!!!!

My first thought was obviously night clubs have changed quite a bit from when my husband and I were making the rounds back in the day.  I have no memories of any of them looking anything at all like Food Lion.  I’m remembering dark rooms, disco light balls and drinks served by the glass or single beer bottles with KC and the Sunshine Band and Donna Summer blasting in the background.  Sorry – don’t have any memories of neat shelves containing a variety of wine available for folks to grab.

Have you seen any of the gourmet cooking shows on TV lately????  They are cooking with stuff I have never heard of before and certainly can’t find in Food Lion.  Instead I find a variety of fresh fruits, vegies and meats that I do recognize and know how to cook and eat.  And females (gasp!!!) being required to retrieve shopping carts from the parking lots!!!  Oh the horrors!!!!  But, wait a minute, didn’t we females campaign for equal pay for equal work…..which means we have to do equal work to receive the equal pay….wait a minute, I’m having a memory of Gloria Steinem’s speech at UNC-CH back in the day…..yep, I’m positive that’s what she was preaching.

I am a Food Lion customer and will continue to be so.  After comparing prices, even with coupons, I get much better deals at Food Lion and I like the new layout now that I’ve gotten used to it.  The service is always good when I go in there.  I guess Betty Black and others, who, by the way, seem to spend an awful lot of time looking for things to complain about, should just take their business elsewhere.  I’m staying with Food Lion.

Actually, I have to end this rant so I can go to Food Lion to pick up a few things.  See ya later….
