Subject: Food Lion discussion — vote with you feet and your wallet
I agree with Betty Black and others who have commented on the recent “makeover” at Food Lion in Pittsboro. Unfortunately, their renovations have only complicated their “so-so” customer relations. I too, recently had an incident where there were only two registers open on a particularly busy afternoon.
I steered my cart containing 19 items to the “20 items or less” line. The cashier told me she could not take me since she was an express line. I re-counted the items in my cart (I guess they looked like more than 20), and went back to her and told her EXACTLY the number of items I had in my cart, which qualified me to go through her line. Of course, I did not even mention how many times I have seen “unqualified” shoppers go through express lines with full shopping carts. Oh well.
When we spoke about it as she reluctantly rang up the groceries, she told me not to bother complaining to her about it. I asked about the store manager, and she told me that I would have to contact CORPORATE, as the store manager had no influence either. What ???? Really?? No wonder the previous manager was so frustrated there.
As to who does what job, your job is your job, male or female, tall or short, large or small, manager or employee. Everyone who works for an employer should want that business to succeed and should take pride in what they are doing. If not …. then …..
The old saying below is true:
vote with your feet
Meaning: If you vote with your feet, you show your opinion of something by acting in a certain way, such as by buying something if you like it, or by not buying it if you don’t like it.
However, this is sometimes difficult to do in that we are not really close to anything here in Pittsboro. Oh how I wish that would change, but since Pittsboro is not exactly business friendly in that regard, I’ll save that for another time.
