Gerald O Dukes is the Featured Artist at the Joyful Jewel for the rest of this month. You’ll find many of his exceptional framed photographs such as the favorite one of the old church on Hillsboro St. or the Confederate Soldier from the Court House circle in Pittsboro and his award winning “Under the Pier” at Sunset Beach, hanging on the walls or as prints in the bins. Gerald has a studio set up at the Joyful Jewel and takes portraits of families, individuals, pets, etc. on site. You can also make appointment for Gerald to meet you at your event such as to capture your wedding in fine photographs.

“Photography is my passion. I have been taking photographs, stopping moments in time for over ten years. Photos tell stories that never end. I consider myself as an artist creating images that last forever. The art of photography is to freeze everything; to see the unseen and to make time sto
One of my greatest enjoyments is taking photographs of brides’ special moments and capturing them for eternity. I enjoy capturing the joy of the day, the candid moments between a couple. My other enjoyment is photographing a family taking time to laugh and play together. These photographs make it all worth while.
During my travels I photograph nature at its best. I feel that nature always has something new to display. I get my inspiration from quiet walks and driving through the countryside; everything I see around me is a photographic moment. I consider becoming a photographer as one of the best things that ever happened to me. I love the places it has taken me, the people I have met and the smiles on people’s faces when they see my interpretation of places they have been.”
