Subject: Dogs at Lowes
It is sad that they are not allowing non service dogs in Lowes. I haven’t been in a while, so I have not experienced this yet. Our yellow lab absolutely loves going to Lowes with us. We only take him if we’re going in to pick up a couple of things, not shop for an extensive amount of time. He is very well behaved and loves people. However, if we are walking down the aisle and someone else is coming, we always keep him close to us just in case the person doesn’t like dogs. You can usually tell. Some people just ignore him and others ask to pet him.
I am actually allergic to dogs, but I get allergy shots. I understand that a dog might bother someone’s allergies, but if your allergies are that bad, walking by someone who’s shirt is covered in dog hair can have the same effect. We can’t always control where allergens will be. For example, I am allergic to cigarette smoke, but those who smoke always tend to hang out directly by the front door of buildings, and I have to walk directly through their smoke to get inside.
Our dog looks forward to trips to Lowes and to Bass Pro Shops which also allows dogs. (I used to live in Chatham, but live in Charlotte now.) We don’t cart him around everywhere with us, but if we are going to one of those two places we bring him because it’s one of the bright points in his day and he loves it!
