N. A. Booko,
I have not had a well pump repaired or replaced lately, but I will share with you a recent experience I had with a company that advertises serving the Pittsboro area for well pump repair and plumbing.
The water supply line that goes from the wall to the toilet tank developed a leak. The fix for that is fairly simple, involving little more than using a common wrench to unscrew the tube fitting at each end and replacing the tube with a new one. Retail cost of the tube from local businesses ranges from $1.97 to $5.95. Since the tube fitting had not been unscrewed in several years, I was concerned that I might damage the pipe in the wall and create a leak if I did the job, so I decided to have a plumber do it.
We called /T. W. Stanley & Son Well Pump & Plumbing Repair/. The plumber came on the scheduled day and, although he was on site for, perhaps 20 minutes longer, the actual work on the job took no more than
10 minutes to complete. The charge was *$350*. We contacted the owner of /T. W. Stanley & Son Well Pump & Plumbing Repair/ to see if there had been a mistake that resulted in an overcharge, and were told that the charge was correct. He said he would refund $50, but could not reduce the charge more than that. We never received even that $50 refund.
