Exactly. “We slept” and still are fighting every step of the way to avoid competing on a basis of saving energy in vehicles.

Fat cats with money to burn or egos tied to vehicles will always want guzzlers, but I don’t think that is a majority of drivers, and certainly is not in the interest of the country.

As for actually benefiting the country and conserving energy, evidently, Detroit can’t keep up. Hence, force them to do so via regulation.
