Our proposal is “in queue”, however, Mount Airy has initiated a counter attack locally to “Bring It Beck” and the Town Commissioners have signed a resolution that noted that “Mount Airy is a pro business community”.
As a follow up, it was noted to them (Beck staffer) that we stand ready to set a new standard for reviving the textile industry, which is a declared goal of Mr. Beck.
For those hearing about this for the first time.
Mr. Beck is looking to place a textile manufacturing plant somewhere in the U.S. He said on his show that he is only interested in dealing with governments that won’t bring politics into the decision. The EDC, Mayor Johnson, and I have been working to try to get him to locate to Siler City or another Chatham location. We’ve sent personal letters and a recruitment package. Now we need the community to rally.
