Subject: Turtle in Schwartz pond
It distressed me too to watch a chain of 8 goslings swimming in a line with one parent leading the way and the other parent bringing up the rear and suddenly one disappear under water. This repeated inself; 7,6,5,4,3, but somehow the last two survived.
Turtles have to eat too. So if you catch it, what are you going to do with it? If you relocate it, it will simply have to eat elsewhere. So, turtles have meat that is edible and also famous turtle soup! A 22 rifle is adequate if you can spot the turtle sunning itself on a log, and you can actually catch one in a net or even on a fishing line! If you have a swimming pool, the skimmer net with a long handle might work, but you might want to reinforce it with a burlap bag.
Or you may do nothing and live with nature including the turtles. Just keep your finger out of its mouth! The ducks and geese will lay more eggs and the fish will continue to spawm.
