The “Circle City” will be hopping this Labor Day weekend starting on Friday, September 2nd at various venues in Pittsboro, NC with the inaugural “Circle City Live” food and music celebration and continuing
through Sunday.
On Friday, September 2, The Carolina Brewery will serve up its award-winning, locally made brews and live music by Erica Blinn. South on Hillsboro Street, the famous Virlie’s Grill will offer choice USDA steaks, fresh seafood and great home cooking. On East Salisbury Street, Davenport & Winkleperry will offer coffee, desserts, unique drinks, with their steam punk ambiance. Over on West Salisbury Street, the local pub The City Tap will serve regional beers, local attitude and beginning at 5 p.m. the musical stylings of Tracy Weibeck, The Swang Brothers, and Sarah Shook and the Devil.
Further south on the famous Pittsboro traffic circle, visitors are invited to enjoy dinner and the culinary creations of new General Store Cafe Executive Chef Larrie Collura, while listening to the neo-folk acoustic music of Nikki Meets the Hibachi starting at 8 pm. Following “Nikki”, the ongoing creative project known as the “Mayor’s Jam” with Pittsboro Mayor Randy Voller and friends will take the stage at 11 p.m. Chef Collura will serve four types of wings and the bar will be open until 2 a.m.
On Saturday morning September 3rd, visit the burgeoning Chatham Mill Farmers Market at the historic Chatham Mill from 8 a.m. to noon. While on the grounds of the Historic Chatham Mill, stock up on goodies at the Chatham Marketplace and head to Shakori Hills for Ira Planer’s brainchild known as the NC Hops and Roots Fest. Eight more bands will be playing from noon until midnight enhanced by delicious local beers

The creative and culinary celebration continues on Sunday, September 4th in downtown Pittsboro. Start at the Chatham Marketplace where One Tribe will accompany the weekly Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stroll a few blocks south to downtown, where the Pittsboro Business Association’s “First Sunday Artisan Street Fair” along Hillsboro Street will kick off festivities starting at Noon. First Sunday coordinator Beth Turner will cue Sarah Shook and the Devil to play at 3 p.m. At 5 p.m. Kittybox and the Johnnys will play at The City Tap. Of course, many downtown shops will be open and the streets of Pittsboro will fill with skateboarders, vendors, and purveyors of Italian Ice and Mapleview Farms ice cream. All in all, a lovely Labor Day weekend in Pittsboro.
