Subject: JM Skirts Past NW in Soccer
Jordan-Matthews advanced to the second round in the first ever Orange/Chatham County High School Soccer Tournament or “OC Challenge” last night downing Northwood in penalty kicks after tying the game in the last minute.
The Chargers had taken the lead on a corner kick in the second half and seemed on the verge of winning the game when Jets forward Joel Cortez was brought down inside the penalty box<br>giving the Jets a penalty kick to tie the game. The Jets advanced to the second winner’s round of the new tournament on penalty kicks 4-2 that sees teams from Chapel Hill High, Carrboro High, Cedar Ridge, East Chapel Hill High, Western Alamance and Cary Academy participate. The Jets play Chapel Hill Tuesday night and Northwood plays Cary Academy.
