Like most services, your “mileage may vary,” but I’ve always been told by AAA providers that the membership covers the person and not the vehicle, which is the primary difference between AAA and roadside assistance coverage from your vehicle manufacturer or insurance company. I’ve seen this play out twice, once in which a vehicle (not mine) was carrying my wife as a passenger, needed roadside assistance, and was covered. The second occurred when my niece had an accident, needed to be towed, and was covered because she was deemed “in my employ†and transporting my kids.
