Writing  From Life: Session I: 8.17.-10.5.2011: 6:30-8:30pm. Cost:
$135; Instructor: Melissa Delbridge, Pittsboro.
Have you had an experience you’re eager to write about?  Are you unsure
of how to begin?  This class will give you tools, techniques, and
prompts to help you weave your memories into a memoir.  A balance of
lecture, exercises, and detailed individual feedback on work will
provide a firm grounding in all the basics of memoir writing.  Readings
from some of the most fascinating contemporary memoirs will be provided
and discussed.

Intermediate Wheelthrowing: Session I: 8.18.-9.29.2011:  6-9pm. Cost:
$80. Instructor: Raymond Edwards. Siler City.
This course is designed to challenge students who have some wheel
throwing experience. Students will be given guidance on wheel forms as
needed and will be introduced to new techniques and combining elements.

Write Where You Are: 8.25.-10.13.2011:  6-8pm:  Cost: $65. Instructor:
Tim McKee. Pittsboro
The greatest impediment to writing is the feeling that where you are
and what you’re doing is not enough. If only I lived in Paris; if only I
had a better laptop; if only I had more time to write. In this class we
learn to shed delusionary fantasies of the writer you should be and
embrace the writer you are. We’ll focus on finding material for your
writing from the very places you spend your time, the very people
already in your life.

Imagery & Endings in Short Fiction: 8.27.2011: 1-4 pm: Cost: $40.
Instructor: Belle Boggs. Pittsboro
This class will begin by examining imagery-rich endings by contemporary
short story writers such as Edward P. Jones, Bonnie Jo Campbell, and
Jayne Anne Philips. Using Campbell’s directive, “look and keep looking,â€
participants will push themselves to stay with a moment long enough to
find its inherent power and bring resonance to the story. Participants
should bring a story with an ending that isn’t quite there yet.
