Put a bird screen on your chimney top to prevent birds from nesting in there

I read your post about the young birds in your chimney. Sitting here I, of course ,can’t say if the parent birds are coming down to feed their young which have fallen down below the nest. My guess is probably not. While seeing young wildlife die is disturbing to most of us, it is so common in nature.

One thing you might want to consider is putting a bird screen on your chimney top to prevent the birds from nesting in there. It will remove a nesting site from the area but had your chimney not been there this season at all it’s a safe bet the nest would have been built somewhere else perhaps more suitable for the little birds.
Hopefully those little guys will survive. -Aaron Honeycutt
