Subject: Northwood Graduate “Making Strides for Autism”
Jordan Stafford, a 2005 Northwood graduate, is in the middle of a 260 mile run from Asheville to Cary to raise awareness of autism and to raise funds for The Mariposa School for Children with Autism in Cary. He began his run on May 7 in Asheville and will enter Chatham County today, May 17 via Hwy 64. Jordan will spend Tuesday night with Dave Simmons and Lisa Reynolds at what formerly was the Laurel Ridge Bed and Breakfast. On Wednesday the 18th, he will run from Siler City to Pittsboro, stopping at the Circle, probably around noon. Later on Wednesday, around 5:00pm, Jordan and some of the Mariposa staff will gather at City Tap where Jordan will get a henna tatoo of The Mariposa School put on his back for the remainder of the run (provided City Tap has no objection to the tatoo).
On Thursday, after Jordan has rested for the day, there will be a benefit dinner at the Bella Donna restaurant from 5:00 to 8:00. Dinner is just $10.00 with $5.00 of each dinner going to the school. On Friday May 20, the day begins with breakfast at Abilcious Bakery. Then in late morning, Jordan and a few friends will meet at the circle and begin the run from PIttsboro to Cary vial Hwy. 64 over Jordan Lake to Poplar Pt. road and then following back roads to the School in Cary. At The Mariposa School that afternoon, a celebration will be held from 12:00 to 5:00 to welcome Jordan and celebrate completing the 260 mile run.
The Original Q-Shack is providing bar-b-que and fixin’s for the celebration and all are invited to have lunch and join in the celebration.
