The Chatham County Historical Association would like to announce the May 1 grave marking of James Emerson, Chatham County Regulator and Revolutionary War Patriot.  The grave marking ceremony will be conducted by the General Francis Nash Chapter, North Carolina Society Sons of the American Revolution.

Interested persons are invited to attend. 

Sunday, 1 May 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

Rives Chapel Baptist Church
4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, Siler City
Reception after the ceremony in the church fellowship hall.

DIRECTIONS TO THE CHURCH
From PITTSBORO:  Proceed west from junction US 15-501/US 64 (city center) on US 64 10 miles, turn left on Rives Chapel Church Road and proceed south 4.4 miles to church on right.
From SILER CITY:  Proceed east from junction US 421/US 64 on US 64 8.4 miles, turn right on Rives Chapel Church Road and proceed south 4.4 miles to church on right.
From SANFORD:  Proceed northwest from junction US 421/US 1/US 15-501 on US 421 16.5 miles, turn right on Ike Brooks Road, proceed northeast 2.2 miles, turn right on Rives Chapel Road and proceed south about 200 yards to church on right.

NOTICE TO ATTENDEES
The gravesite is about 400 yards distant from the parking area and extends through a cow pasture.  In wet weather, it is likely to be muddy.  Attendees should wear clothing and footwear appropriate to these conditions.  Traversing the path to the gravesite should present no difficulty to those in reasonable physical condition, but those with disabilities might find it difficult.
