Hi Bill,
I had the same problem with Ferrellgas and recently purchased my underground tank so I could shop around and to avoid the ever increasing rental and low use fees. I don’t use nearly as much propane as you so I try to fill my tank in the summer when most companies offer deals.
The irony is that once the cost of propane exceeds approximately $2.80 per gallon, it is cheaper to use electric space heaters and to heat water with electricity.
Propane is a rip-off. It is an unregulated industry that charges a fortune for something that is just a by-product of gasoline production. They used to just burn the stuff off. Natural gas is about 1/3 the price per BTU. I guess this is the price we pay for being outside the city.
