re:  Jeffrey Starkweather’s post, Thursday, 2/17/11

As a citizen of Chatham County, I have been perplexed on replying to Mr. Starkweather’s post.  I would hope all of us in Chatham County would want the same good things for the county, annexation is NOT one of them.

The law of Annexation is an antique that should have been trashed years ago.  Get up to date with the program that we all discussed in depth at many county meetings, and joint meetings with Cary.  I don’t want the town of Cary or Wake County invading our communities with sewer/drainage lines nor their super developments that RAPE the land.

We have a lake here that we should be protecting, shrinking farmland that should be preserved, residents to protect.  With annexation, comes nothing but problems, big problems, money problems, school, police force, crime, fire departments, roads, environmental and our Jordan Lake with all the streams that feed into it, not to mention the increase in property taxes.  I could go on and on of the negatives of Annexation and frankly I see no positive actions that would come out of it.

Fight for why we all are living in Chatham county, keep our rural haven safe.

And to Jeffrey Starkweather, thanks for your post.  County Commissioners listen to us, fight for what is right for the county, be strong with the convictions that the PEOPLE want.

Thanks
Lynn

  1. “Fight for why we all are living in Chatham county, keep our rural haven safe.” Amen to that! We don’t need a Walmart either. Plenty of options around in the busy, congested cities around us to go for cheap toxic goods made in China.
