Subject: pipeline and waste water
Thank you for posting on the Chatlist.
Under FAQ there is the comment that long time policy of Progress Energy precludes using the wastewater to cool Shearon Harris. IF the wastewater is the quality that it is supposed to be to put into the river, it should be perfectly adequate to cool the reactors. Progress Energy can CHANGE ITS POLICY! It is just a policy, not carved in granite.
Don’t forget the option of piping Siler City wastewater back upstream to the new reservoir. This would cost less than $1 million currently and would help keep our reservoir full and then the overflow would proceed down the Rocky River. It does so now via Love’s Creek and that route could continue to be used by turning off the new pipeline when reservoir was full.
