Subject: 3 upcoming organic pest management workshops
While tending your vegetable or cut flower crops on your farm or garden, do you ever find yourself wondering if that insect you encountered is friend or foe?
Should I celebrate it or squish it, you ask yourself? And what are the best organic practices to control pesky pests?
Well now your questions can be answered if you register to attend one or all of these upcoming workshops brought to you by the Chatham County Center of North Carolina Cooperative Extension.
February 24, 2011: Vegetable & Cut Flower Insect Pest Identification
March 24, 2011: Beneficial Insect Identification
April 25, 2011: Organic Pest Management for Vegetables and Cut Flowers
All workshops will be presented by Chatham County Agriculture Agent Debbie Roos from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Agriculture Building in Pittsboro, NC. Each workshop will provide 2 continuing certification credits for private and commercial pesticide applicators in classes L, N, O, D, and X.
The cost to attend each workshop is $10 and includes a resource CD-ROM and a pocket hand lens for insect ID.
Details for each workshop and registration information can be found on the Growing Small Farms website at http://bit.ly/qb7UB
*** Also, mark your calendars for our Ginger Production Workshop on Tuesday March 8 in Pittsboro, NC. This will be a daytime program. We are finalizing the details now and hope to release them within the next week ***
I hope to see you there!
