Subject: Chatham Charter teacher finalist for State Teacher of the Year
A fourth-grade teacher in Chatham County is one of nine finalists for the state Teacher of the Year honor.
Regina Johnston teaches at Chatham Charter School and will represent charter schools throughout the state in the competition. The other finalists represent public schools in eight regions of the state.
Johnston is the only finalist from the Triangle.
The winner will be named in May at an awards ceremony in Raleigh. The competition is sponsored by the state Department of Public Instruction and has taken place annually since 1970.
