Subject: Habitat for Humanity profiling
Sarah,
I say well done to Mr. Williams for speaking up. I don’t recall anyspecifications in his posting about “brown skin”. This one simple statement is all that matters…”illegal alien”. Self explanatory.illegal. It doesn’t matter what nationality, color of skin, hair or eyes. Illegal is illegal. They do NOT contribute in a good way to this community or country.
I’m quite sure the reference to Hispanic was simply because they do comprise the majority of illegal aliens in the country at this time and in this community.
I also recall Mr. Williams stating that he did not know whether or not the new Habitat homeowners were legal or not. He had tried to get clarification from Habitat on that and currently hasn’t. I don’t care where they are from, if our donated goods as a community has housed needy families who are legal then GREAT! However, if our community is providing homes to illegal aliens while we have legal residents who have lived and worked here and need help and isn’t getting it then shame on us for allowing this to happen. I also say that if Habitat for Humanity will not speak up and answer questions as to what criteria is used for eligibility then they come across as a bad charitable organization with something to hide. If you have nothing to hide then present the facts to those who ask.
If you do not agree with the way Habitat for Humanity handles business then DO NOT support them. Don’t donate to them and don’t buy from them…there are plenty of other charitable organizations.
