Subject: 2010 Census – Wake-Up Wed., Jan 20th
The new year brings opportunities for new collaborations and good works to be done. Resolve to join us on Wednesday, January 20th for Wake-Up Wednesday at the Community House at 65 Thompson Street in Pittsboro. Everyone is welcome! Doors open at 8 am, program is from 8:30-9:30 am. Admission is $5 and includes a fresh and delicious breakfast from Donna Bianco at Our Neighborhood School & Pizzeria.
Kay Alexander, working on the 2010 Census will be Wednesday’s keynote speaker. Census counts are directly tied to the federal dollars communities receive for important services such as education funding, affordable housing support, job training, social services, roads, bridges, and other community development opportunities. Census counts also directly impact a community’s political voice because the numbers inform voting districts and determine how communities are represented. Kay will tell us more about the census and answer your questions about the upcoming count.
Working together and sharing strengths, resources, information, and news about important work happening here in Chatham County has never been more important than during these challenging economic times. In this upbeat, fast-paced, informative and tightly organized program we seek to build consensus and create collaborations within the community to strengthen organizations and our county.
Join us and bring your business cards and literature to share. Attendees are welcome to bring a door prize to promote your organization or community-oriented event or effort. You’re also welcome to bring a mug to reduce the use of paper products.
