Subject: Thrift and discount shopping (my favorite sport)
I am responding to Lawrence’s question regarding thrift shops/discount shopping in the area. I recommend the Habitat for Humanity shops (on hwy 64, just west of the Pittsboro Circle), and the PTA thrift shop (just east of the circle next to Piggly Wiggly). It is best to frequent these shops, as inventory changes quickly and your needed item might take a few visits to locate. In the process, you’ll find some wonderful treasures you didn’t know you needed! It is a “green” shoppers delight… someone else’s “throw-aways” stay out of the garbage/landfill, and may very well be your treasure or just the item you have been looking for.
There is also a new Habitat for Humanity store between Chapel Hill and Durham, on 15/501 and just North of I-40.
Also, check the Classifieds in the Chatham Co. on-line Bulletin Board.
Finally, you can check Craig’s list, BUT…. I have to say, I prefer targeting my Chatham neighbors first and supporting local sales… stores and sales by owner.
Good Luck!
