Why are school board members Kathie Russell and Flint O’Brien publicly endorsing “Liquor by the Drink”?

The other BOE members – David Hamm, Deb McManus and Gerald Totten – are NOT publicaly saying you should vote for Liquor by the drink.

Why are these two Chatham County school board members, Russell and O’Brien, even involved in this discussion? How does the ability to buy booze by the shot affect our children’s education and welfare?

Am I missing something here? Is there connection between promoting good schools and promoting good liquor?

Will the schools see any increases in funding from the increase in county tax collections?

Voting for or against something is every citizen’s right. I don’t care if Kathie Russell and Flint O’Brien want to vote for LBD but I wonder why they, as school board members, feel the need to make the public endorsement.

This doesn’t have anything to do with our schools, and I see no reason why school board members should involve themselves in it.

Officially endorsing and encouraging people to vote for liquor by the drink just seems a little weird.

What next? A new slogan? Will we hear Kathie and Flint loudly proclaim – “BOOZE IT UP! It’s all for the Children!”
