We had a great turnout at our first Farm Show and Tell of the season at Piedmont Biofarm. You can see photos on Cooperative Extension’s Growing Small Farms website at http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/chatham/ag/SustAg/farmphotofeb1809..html

Everyone seemed to really enjoy Doug Jones’ show and tell (and graze), as he was more than happy to talk about all aspects of his production.

As I mentioned in an earlier email, we will be doing a series of these Show and Tell visits throughout the year. We will have two more Show and Tell visits at Piedmont Biofarm in order to see it in different seasons (next in late June and then again in October). This was suggested by someone from last year’s Show and Tell visits, and I agreed it was a great idea. Of course we will visit several other farms too. I am working on finalizing the schedule now.

The next Show and Tell will be on Monday March 30 at 5:30 pm at Central Carolina Community College’s Land Lab teaching farm in Pittsboro. So mark your calendars!

I also posted the first “Crop Problem” of the year at http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/chatham/ag/SustAg/cropproblems.html – take a look and see if you recognize this pest. It might be what’s making the holes in your overwintered crops! Or if not now, keep your eye out for it in the spring.

Have a great week,
Debbie
