Subject: Getting Out the Vote
In an effort to increase voter participation in Western Chatham, the Campaign for Change is mounting an intensive effort to register as many eligible voters as possible before One Stop voting commences in October.
Young people who will reach age 18 before November, absentee ballot voters and ex-felons who have completed their time and parole commitments to the state are primary targets, as records show they comprise a large percentage of eligible unregistered voters.
In addition to knocking on doors and making telephone calls to voting households to inquire about possible new registrants, a stationery voter registration table will be set up every Saturday in the Goldston Library courtyard from 10 am to 1 pm, and another at Barber Automotive on S. Main Street in Goldston from 1:30 to 4:00 pm. We are also looking for volunteers to man voter registration tables consistently in Siler City. For further information please contact: Russell Baggett, Campaign for Change (919) 423-0837 or Del Turner, Chatham County Democratic Party (919) 776-0563.
