Please check your Embarq telephone bill

Subject: TELEPHONE BILL:  Embarque/ESBI

Please check your telephone bill. We got ours today and Embarque had added two charges of 14.95 each for a total with tax of 3.199.  This was for a voice mail service that we had not ordered and don’t want…… from a third party called ESBI.

I notified both ESBI and Embarque that this was not a proper charge
since I had not contracted for any such service. They both promised
me they would remove the charge but that it would take up to 60 days
to do it. Didn’t take them 60 days to add it. ;-(

I really don’t understand how Embarque could justify allowing a third
party to add an item to my bill !

I also Googled ESBI to see what I could find and the first page that came up listed many items saying this is a ‘scam’ and that Verizon customers were also being victimized.

I plan to notify the State of North Carolina Consumer Affairs Department using their forms (available on the internet) if you need them.

Just wanted to give you all a ‘heads up’ about checking your phone bill.
