Subject: farm in Hillsborough seeking partners to return to production
Dear Chatham Neighbors,
I know there are many talented people involved with sustainable farming here in Chatham. If any of you know of someone interested in land access to start their farming business, please contact my friend Sam who is looking to put a farm back into production in Hillsborough. See his announcement below for the details.
Thanks!
John

Looking for Help on Sustainable Farm in North Hillsborough
I recently bought a 7 acre small farm in north Hillsborough that hasn’t been in production in 10 years. I’ve just moved into the farm house, but am only using 1 of the 3 bedrooms. As I have a full-time job and am just getting into sustainable agriculture, I need a lot of guidance and help getting the farm up and running again. I’m looking for people that know a good bit about sustainable farming who would be interested in working with me.
Here’s what I’ve got to offer:
– free use of the land, keep/sell what you grow
– money for capital expenses (fencing, etc)
– 2 to 3 hours of my labor per day and more on weekends
– cheap rent in a nice farm house
– products from the chickens, goats and pigs I’m getting soon
Preferably, I’m looking for people that can help me through the next growing season. I may be interested in a more long-term partnership, but need to feel that out as I go.
If interested, please e-mail sam.hummel-at-gmail.com
