Subject: Response to the Subway Post
Dan, thanks for your post on the Subway incident.
Though you may not know it, I was standing behind you in line through the entire ordeal, and I want to applaud the staff at Subway for their handling of the situation. The woman apparently had sent her child into the restaurant with her order. Instead of giving the order to the person behind the counter, the child “read” the order to her.
When the woman came storming in and accusing the workers of being incompetent, the staff person kindly told the woman that the child had stated mayo was to be on the sandwich. She also said that they would make another sandwich for her. The woman was irate and started accusing the staff of calling her child a liar.
Dan did indeed take up for the crew working for very little pay. And the rest is history… (over something as trivial as mayo!!)
You know the old saying “You catch more flies with honey” goes a long way. There are so many larger, pressing issues in life…why worry over the little things? Any business is going to work with the customer to
fix a problem; they would go out of business, otherwise. No matter who makes the mistake, there is no reason for your blood pressure to rise. One other thought–if you want something done right, never send your child to do it for you!!
Oh, and Kudos to the young lady re-making the sandwich for suppressing the urge to spit in it, too! (Don’t know if I could have resisted had I been in your place!)
(It really was quite a spectacle….wish I’d had a video camera. I could have won $10,000 off that one!!….All over a little mayo!)
