Biography
* Bob Knight was born November 26, 1946 and lives in Asbury Community in Chatham County.
* Graduated Pittsboro High School “Class of 65”.
* In 1973 enrolled in Business Administration at CCC of Sanford, N.C.
* A Vietnam war veteran awarded honors in the US Army for two and a half years.
* A furniture upholster for 25 years, doing his final outstanding work for Moses Malone.
* Managed a 1,000-acre farm in Guilford County for two years.
* Was successful with negotiating medical benefits and insurance program of tow insurance contracts on behalf of 200 people with the furniture company he worked for.
* Owned and operated K&C Tree and Stump Removal for 10 years.
* Eleven years ago, he broke his neck and back in a work related accident.
* A C6-7 Quadriplegic who uses a wheelchair for mobility.
* Negotiated with contacts to make the “Bell’s Landing Pier” at Jordan Lake handicap accessible for the Disabled to enjoy fishing and the Lake.
* Advocate for other related needs for the Disabled in Pittsboro & Siler City…
* Given special recognition by AARP for related work.
* Has not yet retired.
* Currently serves as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Siler City which offer him the opportunity to meet community members and discuss their views on what is happening in all parts of Chatham County.
* Has been married to Jean Odom Knight for 37 years, has two daughters, a son and five grandchildren.
* He says, “As I faced adversity, the Family has been my anchor. When circumstances are different, the principle is the same. We relied on each other. And We as people of Chatham County must stay positive.”
