Subject: response to Ginna’s commentary about Pittsboro vs. McDonalds
I do appreciate the sentiment you express about Pittsboro being an artist’s community and having its own personality. But your assumption that we can all go out for a day with our friends and “spend an afternoon” in Apex or elsewhere for lunch hints of a lifestyle I do not have.
I cannot imagine there are too many folks on here that take a day to eat and shop whenever they feel like going out to eat. I am a new Chatham artist and value the art community I hope to tap into soon. But I also work a full-time job and usually my eating out would be on the way home from work, to whatever place is close to my route home.
The “fast” in fast food is sometimes important in that decision and we’ve already established that Hardee’s in PBO does not fit that bill. I think one or two more fast food places could be good here, but hopefully we will not go overboard.
By the way, I keep hearing about S&Ts and the General Store, but is anyone else out there a fan of Andy’s? I love that place! They have excellent sandwiches, fries and shakes. While there may exist a handful of Andy’s around a couple of counties now, I
vote that they still rank as a fairly locally-owned restaurant. Or maybe the owner lives in NY or something, but I sure do like the place.
I hope Pittsboro finds a happy balance somewhere in the middle of the extremes many people express about this issue.
