Subject: The Important Point about Carolina BREWERY
There’s been lots of debate about Carolina Brewery. Very little of it has been about the most important part, the Brewery part.
I picked up a “growler”, which is their beer in 1/2 gallon jugs (very appropriate for our region, except the local stuff my grandfathers acquired in gallon jugs was much higher octane :)). there were at least 4 different styles to choose from, ranging from light ale to a stout. I chose the Firecracker Ale because it sounded interesting with plenty of hops and a complex blend of spices, according to helpful staffmember. My favorites are dark beers, but when it’s near 100 degrees outside I often prefer a lighter beer, especially wheat beers.
When I got the chance to try it out I was not disappointed. It was incredible! I won’t try to describe it, so here’s their webpage that describes all their beers. I’m looking forward to trying all of the seasonal offerings as well as the ones on tap. You can register your email with them on their website for new beer arrivals, events, etc.
I did feel like I had to wait a little, but that was mostly because I was in a hurry. I was just planning to pick up some needed things at Lowes and I figured I could run into the store and grab some beer and go and not be late. There were three nice English ladies chitchatting with the staff about scones and Derbyshire, or Devonshire, or something like that, endlessly debating which coffee to order, and enjoying the quaint town of Pittsboro, possibly while on “holiday”. They did let me order once they noticed my mouth was watering as I looked at the growlers. It was a pleasant delay, though, and it certainly wasn’t the Brewery Staff’s fault.
And Brunswick Stew IS supposed to be mushy and have a distinct flavor. Technically, I think it should have some rabbit and/or squirrel in it, but I won’t quibble with them if it doesn’t. I prefer Eastern Style BBQ over Brunswick Stew when I have the option. Actually I prefer Eastern Style BBQ over almost anything, except maybe really good beer. I’ll be refilling my growler today, maybe I’ll go for the Bynum Brown this time.
