And I also thought the chatlist was a pretty neat idea. I commend Gene for instigating it! Wish we had one down here in New Hanover county. Anyway, since I admitted I was a 'tax guy', I have gotten several emails with questions about taxes. Most have been somewhat 'apologetic' about bothering me so I thought I would publicly announce that I am happy to answer your individual questions as best I can. I am not soliciting business, though I am always open to new clients, but it is a nice diversion to me to address tax issues from you. One of the strengths of the chatlist is that we have a number of people with many different talents who contribute. In my short time as a member, I've seen people who are 'experts' in computer stuff, pet stuff and so on and I'm happy to contribute what I know to the community. Just be aware that generic answers may not always address your specific situation. The tax code and the Treasury Regs to carry it out consisted of 1.7 million words as of 2000 and I confess to not having read them all.... To ask me a question, you will have to run the gauntlet of my 'spam dogs' but if you put 'tax guy' in the subject line, I will get it and try to respond. And after tax season, I will probably be pestering some of our other chatlist 'experts' with questions of my own in their area of expertise.
