Subject: Pittsboro Chatlist?
I live in the very northwestern corner of Chatham, and I post on the chatlist all the time. I personally know MANY people from Siler City that read the chatlist, although I don’t know if any of them post.
There are posts from Silk Hope folks all the time.
I don’t know where anyone got the idea that the chatlist is only for Pittsboro people. The more people who post from all over the county, the better we are all informed about all happenings.

Subject: Carpool: Daily commute from Pittsboro to Apex and back
I’m looking for a friendly person (non-smoker) with reliable transportation, who is also a safe driver, to take turns (every other week) driving each other to and from work. I live in Pittsboro and work in Apex. I need to be at work just before 8am and I leave at 5pm, Monday through Friday.

Subject: Swap fishing pond for fish filets?
Just wondering if anyone out there is interested in a trade. . . I have a pond stocked with catfish, bream (sp?), and I believe perch; although I like to eat fish I do not enjoy fishing or fileting fish. . . so anyone interested in a swap? Permission to fish in the pond in exchange for a few fish filets out of what you catch? I will even be glad to keep the fish trimmings for my compost pile as I am sure it would make my garden very happy! Silk Hope area.

Subject: K-8 Funding Misinformation
I have repeatedly seen erroneous information about how ‘overfunded’ the K-8 schools are in Chatham County. I’ve even heard them referred to as ’boutique schools’, which makes me wonder what boutiques these people frequent. Please look at the facts before making these blanket statements. Employee costs is only one of the ways schools receive benefits from the county, but that is where this started. Taking the actual costs spent per school (per the spreadsheet from Susan Little at the Central Office), and removing line items specific to PreK, special needs, and Title 1 funds as these are separate issues, I have calculated the cost spent by the local funds only as well as the total cost per school. Note that these would actually make schools with higher teacher retention more expensive as well, as it is the actual costs spent at these schools on employees. For anyone interested in the actual numbers and how they were calculated I’m happy to provide the excel spreadsheets.

Subject: Reconfiguration to save money?
This is straight from the presentation for reorganization to be given monday night. Priced a new Gym lately or parking at $100.00 per space? How about renovating bathrooms or a new science labs? And the savings are not even going to come up to the 650,000 dollars claimed as the reason to do this. a new gym could be 1.5-2 million dollars.
We just built a 6000 sf metal community center in silk hope and it cost 1 million dollars. There are no savings. It will cost us more!

Subject: Petitions and meetings planned
Petitions against reorganization and or redistricting are gong out today across the county . We desperatly need voluntiers to take petitions for parents to sign . Its very important we get all the parents organized and get those signatures to show the BOE we mean business and we wont take a back seat to a plan that will have a negative effect on us all . If this plan goes into place it wont just effect the K-12 schools , like Wake county the shuffle will begin moving kids across the county to unfamiliar schools creating a busing nightmare .

I don’t understand your point, Gene, unless your point is that you wanted to see George get clobbered by an angry mob.
No public official should submit themselves to lynching meetings manipulated by outside hate groups. I read the flyers being secretly distributed in Silk Hope, and I’ve been to the websites of Ali-PAC and the other organizations with a lot of bad-mouth and almost no members, and I’ve read the national reports about these groups.

Subject: rec’s for landscape contractor for ceremonial tree planting?
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I need recommendations for a landscape contractor to perform a very small but important job.
This job is the planting of a single ceremonial tree (6 to 10 feet tall). I need someone with experience in commercial tree-planting, willing to take a small job in Silk Hope. I’d be much obliged to receive your recommendations.
Many thanks,
John Bonitz

Subject: Silk Hope Old Fashioned Farmers Days was a great event
Silk Hope Old Fashioned Farmers Days
I attended one of my favorite county events yesterday – Old-Fashioned Farmers Days in Silk Hope.
As a history major I love this event. It’s an opportunity to take a look at what farming was like.
Getting some of the home-made ice cream is a most.
I have a couple of YouTube videos available for viewing and I’ll have pictures up later.
