Subject: See what happens when ONE vote makes a difference?
I am so thankful for thoughtful, law abiding County leadership! For just a few years, county “policy” was created at the whim of a few and personal preference instead of our official rules and regulations. These activities went unchecked for those dark years. No wonder we couldn’t get video taped meetings! Well, now we have transparent government that started video taping meetings immediately. In a matter of just 18 months our County Commissioners have been able to correct our path. Please view this video of Monday’s Commissioner’s meeting:

Subject: Chatham hits 5th on pollution list under Chatham Coalition regime
The Chatham Coaltion Commissioners who preached about a green environment apparently failed miserably. Under the leadership of Tom Vanderbeck, George Lucier, Sally Kost and all, Chatham landed up being the 5th most pollted county in the state of North Carolina.
“According to data that industrial polluters must report to the Environmental Protection Agency in 2010, polluters released over 1 million pounds of toxic pollution into the air breathed by residents in each of twelve counties (listed in descending order by amount): Columbus (3,972,385 lbs.), New Hanover (3,056,955lbs.), Wayne (2,148,960 lbs.),

Ms. Fass,
I read your post in the chatlist last week and as a person who uses the chatlist to gather information and read up on county topics, your post was so full of implications that it has prompted me to make my first post on the chatlist. The arrogance and duplicity just dripped from it, and beyond that there were implications made that you either need to justify or apologize for. Normally I can accept the political animosity that is sometimes on display here, but your words went way beyond that. I will be specific with what I saw and you may do with it what you like.

Subject: Sally Kost calls the Chatham Bookmobile a “Rolling Dinosaur”
Glad Mark Barroso had a chance to capture one of the last rides of the Chatham Bookmobile. A bookmobile, that county commissioner Sally Kost so unkindly referred to as a “rolling dinosaur” at the June 3, 2010 commissioners’ meeting.
During the 2010-11 budget process, the bookmobile was part of the consideration for discontinuance upon the opening of the new library. Chairman Sally Kost stated that as part of the budget recommendation that was presented to the Board in May, staff made the recommendation to take the resources that were used for the bookmobile and to use those to help offset some of the costs for the new Chatham Community library.

Subject: a vast majority of well-behaved citizens
Pistole comments on the recent board decision to cancel any further discussion of the budget, saying:
“I’m not sure how anyone who looks at the situation objectively could be outraged. The budget has been discussed for several months, objectives given to county departments, and public input sought in a number of formats. Spending was reduced and core functions of government were given priority. Any calls for outrage by citizens is only playing to emotion and not facts. Brian Bock, Pam Stewart, and Walter Petty have done exactly what they campaigned on in 2010. The majority of Chatham County supports them, despite the perception that a few on the far left wish to create. If these three did not have the support of the county, all three would not have been elected.”
