Storytelling for Grown-Ups at the General Store Café

Storytelling for Grown Ups will take place on Tuesday, October 25 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the General Store Café in Pittsboro.  The night will feature a variety of storytelling styles and stories from some of the area¹s finest storytellers for only $5.00!  If you¹re interested $10.00 gets you the buffet dinner.

Ok Chatlisters.  Vance has heard your complaints and asked for some  feedback from everyone to help him make this great downtown  institution  a better, newer GSC.

Now is the time to help a  longtime and very generous Chatham business  owner keep his business going.

I, for one, applaud Vance for stepping up to the plate and publicly  asking his fellow Chatham citizens to come in, sit down and talk to  him.  What more can we ask for?

Subject: My take on General Store Cafe

My family are long-time customers of the GSC.  Yes sometimes the service is slower than we might like, but consider that the management needs to schedule the wait staff based on an unknown number of customers.  In order to keep the GSC as profitable as possible, then they cannot afford to have wait staff just standing around.

It saddens me to read so much criticism about the GSC along with criticisms toward the new restaurants in town.  I regularly eat at the GSC and I have been treated well.  I am satisfied with the food, and I enjoy the ambiance of the place…. a casual place to hang out, listen to music, be on the Internet, and read the paper.

I DID tell the people at the GSC about EVERY problem I had…..that’s why I eventually decided (after two plus horrible visits) to tell the Chatlist….hoping maybe somebody from the restaurant would read it and realize it’s not just me.  PLEASE save yourself!!!

Last night (Friday) my wife and I took out of town guests to The General Store Café for dinner. I thought about it a little beforehand, because of the negative posts on the Chatlist over the last couple of weeks. On the other hand, the GSC is so emblematic of our unique Chatham scene, I decided to go there.
