Having just caught up with the news of the recent hit and run incident in North Chatham County in the Raleigh paper, where comments were abundant on both sides of the issue of cyclists on the roads, it is perhaps time to remind those cycling on the roads around Jordan Lake that certain risks must be accepted in this sport, just as risks have to be accepted when skiing down a mountain.  There are many boat trailers traversing these roads and many drivers have no idea whether their boat trailer tires are on the road or not.  The sun is going down in the afternoons, often creating glares on the windows of motorists when many are cycling and not clearly seen.

For many years Ebenezer United Methodist Church has delivered pre-ordered lunches of ½ a barbecued chicken, coleslaw, buttered boiled potatoes, a roll and homemade dessert. This Fall in addition to delivering plates, we are adding eat-in or take-out service in our Fellowship Hall from 11 A.M. until 2 P.M. on Friday, September 30th.

Our Church is located at 724 Beaver Creek Road, ¾ mile south of the Wilsonville traffic light on US64E, just slightly east of Jordan Lake. Please join us for a great lunch!

All You Can Eat BBQ and brunswick stew at Merritt’s Chapel on October 1

It’s that time of year when area churches are revving up the cookers and stew pots.  Merritt’s Chapel will be having their Fall BBQ and brunswick stew -all you can eat- this Saturday from 4-  8pm. 

Coleslaw, hushpuppies, rolls, homemade pickles,  tea(with eat in) and homemade desserts will also be served.  Our pork BBQ is slow cooked and made with a prize winning sauce and the brunswick stew is made from a hundred year old recipe that is hard to beat.  Eat in and take out line.

The NC Department of Transportation is holding its Fall Litter Sweep from Saturday, September 17th through Saturday, October 1st. Groups or individuals that would like to participate and help clean up Chatham County roadways can contact the Siler City office at 919-742-3431 to sign up and get supplies. Nothing against deer hunting, only where the loose bullet end up. For the last three years, in my back yard deck.

Someone is out there that hunts or fires in the same direction without thinking of where that bullet is going to land.

Remember what goes up…..must come down. They can travel a long distance.

Please be careful !!!!! I fear for my family to use the yard during deer season.
