Okay, I have always enjoyed the General Store…have put up with a little change here and there…I’m rollable.
BUT, the past two times I’ve been (both in the past 10 days) have been crappy. Went for brunch today (Sunday). Had to ask for oj twice, had to ask for coffee refills EVERY time we needed coffee, had to ask for jelly 3 times, told server we wanted one check…two checks came….came back with credit card to be signed….no pen. Asked for biscuits (well, actually asked for scones…on the menu…..but were told no scones were made today…..out of ingredients….if you can make biscuits and turnovers you have ingredients to make scones…..) and while we didn’t mind the $1.25 charge for one biscuit….we DID mind the COLD biscuits delivered. Had to ask they be nuked.

Subject: Scrabble, anyone?
Are there other Chatham Chatters who like to play Scrabble? When I worked in Namibia, some Scrabble loving expats would gather at the Cameroonian restaurant in town for long, lively games after dinner. Is anyone interested in a Scrabble night, maybe at the General Cafe if they’re amenable?

Does someone program the town clock’s chimes? As I was leaving the General Store in the rain at noon on Saturday, “raindrops keep falling on my head” was playing and “singing in the rain” began as I drove off. Are the bells coordinated with weather reports or was this a joyful coincidence?
