Subject: Coyotes

In reference to the Coyote posts….

I live in Fearrington and my neighbors and I have seen and heard the coyotes here regularly now.  There seems to be a pack that can be heard howling in the dusk and evening….we’re all very cautious walking our dogs at night.

Yesterday I saw a large male that seems to have been injured trotting holding his left hind leg, yet unafraid of me out in broad daylight.

Animal control has refused to come.  Not sure how to handle the growing problem.

Does anyone know what the construction project is that’s under way along the east side of 15-501 about a half-mile south of Mt. Gilead Church Road, right where the pipeline crosses the highway? Lots of recent activity there…just curious what it’s all about.

There’s often a lot of negative talk about our local surroundings, but today I’d like to discuss some “good things” that may get overlooked with all of the daily bickering & chatter.

I’ve had the opportunity of working with several local businesses during my time at the library. I have to say that I’m most impressed with the businesses in this community and their support for our local establishments and organizations.

Subject: New NE Chatham middle school to open in November 2010

Pittsboro, NC – Chatham County Schools will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, January 29, at 9 a.m. for the new middle school that will be in the Briar Chapel development.

Directions: From Hwy. 15-501 north of Fearrington Village, turn left on Andrews Store Rd. Turn right at the Briar Chapel construction entrance that is the first (gravel) road past Woods Charter School.

The new middle school is slated to open in November 2010.

 It all started quite by accident when in the early ’70′s  Pete & Gael Jaeger purchased a Welsh pony by the name of Strawberry Shortcake. Their young daughters* enjoyed driving in the carriage with their parents but soon they were learning the art of riding. They started at an early age, and what started off as a hobby with the family showing horses on weekends, turned into a business and prominent Morgan training stable in 1973.

The lighting of the luminaries at Fearrington

Pittsboro – On Friday, December 19th from 6pm-8pm, celebrate the season with the Lighting of the Luminaries along the winding paths of the Village Center.  Fearrington will be decked out with holiday decorations, The Bluegrass Experience will be playing your favorite holiday songs and the Village shops will stay open late.

The event benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill. Donations will be accepted during the event.
