How about left handed red heads, because they can be so difficult in public places!!
Get a life people! They are dogs and only dogs.

Subject: ban children in more places
I wish children were banned in more places. Children misbehave more than dogs, they are not leashed.. and they seem to be everywhere. Try to go to a nice restaurant… deal with a screaming baby or toddler… go to the mall… kids running wild everywhere.. snot running down their noses… touching everything.. running up to me… if I am at a restaurant I hate when children run up to my table… or stand up in a booth and look over….

People who are having a hard financial time are dumping dogs on rural roads.
My question is there an organization who will help people to support their pets in their home during this time?

Subject: Dogs left in the heat
I just wanted to thank RC-Pittsboro for the post concerning dogs left out in the heat.
If you’re going to have pets, treat them as well as you would treat yourself. They are dependent on you, and they are your responsibility. If you wouldn’t sit in a car in 100-plus degree weather, don’t expect your dogs to do that.
The least you can do if your dogs are outside is to buy a $10 kiddie pool and keep it filled with clean water for them.

Subject: pet irresponsibility
In total support of Sarah Shook’s “dead-on” post, I will add that in addition to be irrresponsible, you irresponsible pet owners are also “criminals” – in violation of the law.
A criminal is defined as one who committs a crime. Violation of a law is a “crime”. Chatham county has a “leash law” – you are obligated by law to keep your pets on your property. Lest you dont believe it, check with the county, animal control, or contact me & I’ll make you a copy of this “leash law”.

Subject: Missing pets
Several years ago we lost 2 dogs via abduction. We called PETA and reported the many dogs and cats that were missing, ABC did an investigation and found that a man in Raleigh was traveling to our area and catching dogs of certain types and size, keeping them on his property until he could fill his orders.

re. End the Epidemic of Irresponsibility
Dear Sarah…. Thank you [not] for the brim and firestone lecture. However, in fact like children, dogs do not always do as asked/commanded. Like adolesents, dogs sometimes INTENTIONALLY “break out” of a contained area, and INTENTIONALLY rebel, running away from the owner holding the leash trying to capture them.
Like children, some dogs are terrified of thunderstorms and chew through wire kennels and a crazed attempt to get away to somewhere safe, away from the storm; that could be miles from their home.

Subject: runaway or missing dogs
To add a gentler comment about lost dogs, I know stolen is another issue, if you have labs, spaniels, or any type of hunting breed or type do not let them run no matter how tempting.
These dogs are born to track a scent and catch what is on the end of it and when they get on a smell they can run for days and counties.
They need leashes and good fences. No matter how bonded they are to you their instinct takes over. PLEASE make sure you contain them well or it just leads to heartache.

Subject: Lost dogs & irresponsible owners
The reality of life is that dogs do get lost and the chatlist is a wonderful resource for locating those dogs.
I have found 4 dogs where I work over the past 2 years and have reunited them with their owners because of the connection on the chatlist. All of the owners, I believe, loved their dogs and took good care of them.
As a community let’s take care of each other and our pets.

Wow Sarah, What’s your point? To take that much time and effort to prattle on about people who lose their dogs advertising for help on the Chatlist was really something to behold.
You must lead the charmed life and nothing bad like that ever happens? And all that experience raising young kids you must have! If you did have that much, you’d know they do get out the door sometimes, dogs AND kids. Even the BEST PARENT knows that. Stuff happens Sarah, lighten up.
