Subject: gas prices
Cole Park may be going downhill, but – surprise – the gas prices in the area are now better than the area I previously recommended, which was West Main St. in Carrboro from Weaver Street out to the 54 intersection. Today, around Cole Park, the price was $239.9, and on W. Main, it was $242-243.9.

Cole Park Plaza has never been a “gem” of North Chatham. It’s always had many empty store fronts and that sort of “has been” look. But what’s going on there now is a bit troubling. The old “OLIVE BRANCH” is now one really creepy bar, with blacked out windows. If this is what liquor by the drink has brought our way, I’m sorry it passed.
I really can’t describe it to give the low rent feel this place has. Next time you’re by, stick your head in and be your own judge and then back out the door slowly.

Not only do they think the speed limit is suppose to be the minimum speed, they tail gate cars going 60 mph and over in the left lane. All kinds including woman with children in the cars, speeding and tailgating at high speeds while talking on the phone as well as texting.
You should see them, where it says reduced speed at Cole Park Plaza intersection. (45mph) They can not seem to compute it in their little brains. Now, can you all imagine these same drivers with one or more drinks in them.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have posted a series of video clips of folks speaking about the Chatham County Commissioners’ ICE Resolution and illegal immigration on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=BFB53A6376780980
I was and am planning to be at the public forum sponsored by CCV at the Dry Dock Restaurant in Cole Park Plaza Thursday evening at 7 pm and get some video clips of the proceedings.

Subject: rare reply from Chapel Hill Tire

My name is Steve Taylor and I’m the manager of Chapel Hill Tire Car Care Center at Cole Park Plaza. I monitor these posts daily and also feel that there is quite a bit of useful information shared across this community by this chatlist and think personally that Gene does a great job. I would also like to think that the majority of stories spread on here are impartial and are spread for public benefit. However, there is a disclaimer on the bottom of the chatlist because Gene in his wisdom knows that not all information on here is accurate, or impartial. “The contents of the digest do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Chatham Online, the Chatham Journal, or Gene Galin. I’ve been a customer of CH Tire for over 30 years. Dealt with Mr. Al Pons in CH before his two sons (Mark & Brett) took over after his untimely death. Al used to loan me his black Mercedes while my car was in the shop – that was some type of “loaner”!

Subject: Cole Park Chapel Hill Tire
I would just like to say that I have heard numerous complaints from employees at work about Chapel Hill Tire at Cole Park. However, please don’t confuse them with the Chapel Hill Tire at university Mall. The difference is day and night. I know it’s not in Chatham County but I just want the records cleared that they are not the same – just the same name.

Subject: Park and ride lot correction
It is important to distinguish between the Park and Ride lots in Chapel Hill and the CAP lots (which stands for Commuter Alternative Program). The Park and Ride lots such as the one at Southern Village are open to the public. The CAP lots such as the one at Cole Park require a permit and you do have to be a University or Hospital employee. The CAP lots are clearly marked with signs that state that you need such a permit.
