Buying Christmas gifts in Siler City

December 20th, 2009 · No Comments

From: judy
Subject: Christmas gifts

Yesterday I was at Mina Bean’a in Siler  City getting some delicious hot chocolate, and The Global Heart has their shop set up there – all fair Trade merchandise.

Everything is beautiful and useful, and at incredible prices!  I bought a lovely wooden bowl with bamboo inlay – I’ve seen similar bowls in Asheville, Raleigh etc for $100-$200. I paid $10. They have amazing and gorgeous things at The Global Heart – silk scarves and silk jackets, placemats, coasters, candles & holders, all sorts of bags from yoga bags to shopping bags and purses, there is stuff hanging up – kids mobiles and wind chimes..  And everything seemed to be at least half price.   So if you are looking for a different and beautiful Christmas gift, it’s well worth checking them out

Thanks for the star

Subject: Thanks for the star

To the folks who live on SR 1010, on the Pittsboro side of the Rocky River:

Thanks for the star you have on the end of your barn and light up every Christmas season.  I’ve lived here for four holiday seasons now (on the Goldston side of the river), and I’ve come to really enjoy driving home from work on a dark, cold day and seeing that star shining brightly as I near the river.  I know, then, that I’m almost home.  Such a cheery milestone.

It makes me sad to see some of the correspondence on the chatlist

From: darien russell
Subject: Christmas

Christmas, Thanksgiving and other holidays, birthdays anniversaries etc. are especially hard for those who have lost a loved one or had them taken from you by murder, as my daughter was taken from her family.

It makes me sad to see some of the correspondence on the chatlist. There seems to be so much anger about things that are so insignificant. I’ve suggested this before and will again. that maybe you could use some of your time to volunteer for worthwhile causes or at least try to be kinder to your fellow man. I am so grateful that the last words that my daughter and I said to each other were ” I love you”

Subject: Sponsor a Child for Christmas

Chatham County Department of Social Services’ Christmas Wishes Program is asking for your help this year to make the Christmas Holiday special for each child in foster care in Chatham County. We need sponsors to support the program, which helps meet three Christmas wishes of each child in foster care.

In the past, we have had families, individuals, and organizations as sponsors. You can help one child, an entire family, or a group of siblings. Monetary contributions are also acceptable and all donations go directly to purchasing items for children in foster care.
